What is the conversion factor between millimeters and centimeters?

Which is bigger, a millimeter or a centimeter?
When it comes to measurements, there can be some confusion over which is bigger, a millimeter or an centimeter. To find out which one is larger, we must first convert one unit to the other and then compare them.

- 0.1 centimeter is smaller than 1 centimeter.

How to convert millimeters to centimeters?
Multiplying any value by 1 will get you the same value back. You can do that one time or multiple times.
For example:
- 91 x 1 = 91
- 171 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 171
Multiplying by 1 is the first step in any unit conversion problem. The second step is to replace the number 1 with the conversion factor that is also equal to 1.
For example, if we want to convert 100 millimeters into centimeters we multiply 100 mm by the conversion factor of 1 cm10 mm
By replacing the number 1 with the conversion factor, millimeters are canceled out and we get the result in centimeters. And since the conversion factor is equal to 1, multiplying it with the original value won't change its magnitude and will only change its unit.
Based on this, we can conclude that 100 millimeters are equal to 10 centimeters.
