What is the conversion factor between micrometers and centimeters?

Which is bigger, a micrometer or a centimeter?
When it comes to measurements, there can be some confusion over which is bigger, a micrometer or an centimeter. To find out which one is larger, we must first convert one unit to the other and then compare them.
- 1 μm = 110000 cm = 1e-4 cm
- 1e-4 centimeter is smaller than 1 centimeter.

How to convert micrometers to centimeters?
Multiplying any value by 1 will get you the same value back. You can do that one time or multiple times.
For example:
- 10 x 1 = 10
- 800 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 800
Multiplying by 1 is the first step in any unit conversion problem. The second step is to replace the number 1 with the conversion factor that is also equal to 1.
For example, if we want to convert 10 micrometers into centimeters we multiply 10 μm by the conversion factor of 1 cm10000 μm
By replacing the number 1 with the conversion factor, micrometers are canceled out and we get the result in centimeters. And since the conversion factor is equal to 1, multiplying it with the original value won't change its magnitude and will only change its unit.
Based on this, we can conclude that 10 micrometers are equal to 0.001 centimeters.
