What is the conversion factor between micrometers and meters?

Which is bigger, a micrometer or a meter?
When it comes to measurements, there can be some confusion over which is bigger, a micrometer or an meter. To find out which one is larger, we must first convert one unit to the other and then compare them.
- 1 μm = 11e+6 m = 1e-6 m
- 1e-6 meter is smaller than 1 meter.
- 1 micrometer is, therefore, smaller than 1 meter.
- To be more specific, a meter is 1e+6 times bigger than a micrometer.

How to convert micrometers to meters?
Multiplying any value by 1 will get you the same value back. You can do that one time or multiple times.
For example:
- 48 x 1 = 48
- 354 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 354
Multiplying by 1 is the first step in any unit conversion problem. The second step is to replace the number 1 with the conversion factor that is also equal to 1.
For example, if we want to convert 100000 micrometers into meters we multiply 100000 μm by the conversion factor of 1 m1e+6 μm
By replacing the number 1 with the conversion factor, micrometers are canceled out and we get the result in meters. And since the conversion factor is equal to 1, multiplying it with the original value won't change its magnitude and will only change its unit.
Based on this, we can conclude that 100000 micrometers are equal to 0.1 meters.
